Meath make five changes for Limerick trip

For tomorrow's GAA All-Ireland football championship qualifier against Limerick, the Meath management have drafted in four of the five players who were suspended for last month's Leinster SFC clash with Wexford.

Niall McKeigue, Seamus Kenny, Nigel Crawford and team captain Brendan Murphy are all back in the Meath side for the trip to the Gaelic Grounds (throw-in 7pm).

Full-forward Brian Farrell is the fifth player brought in as the Royals look to mount a 'back door' run similar to last year's.

Colm Coyle's men reached an All-Ireland semi-final last August after getting the better of Down, Fermanagh and Galway in the qualifiers and accounting for Tyrone at the quarter-final stage.

Former All-Ireland-winning captain and All-Star Graham Geraghty is the big omission from the Meath line-up for the Limerick game.

Geraghty, who picked up a knock in training, is benched along with Mick Aherne, Chris O'Connor and Joe Sheridan, while Kevin Reilly is suspended.

Back from a lengthy period on the injury list, impressive young forward Shane O'Rourke is also down for bench duty.

O'Rourke scored nine points in a recent challenge match against Laois and could add an extra dimension to the visitors' attack if called upon.

Commenting on the team selection, Meath selector Dudley Farrell said: "The defeat against Wexford blew everything open, no one is guaranteed a jersey.

"We pick the lads on form. It's a 20-man game."

Meath and Limerick have never met in the championship before and Coyle's side will be itching for action after going seven weeks without a competitive game.

MEATH (SFC v Limerick) - B Murphy (capt); N McKeigue, D Fay, C McGill; S Kenny, E Harrington, C King; N Crawford, M Ward; A Nestor, B Meade, P Byrne; S Bray, B Farrell, C Ward.
