Down manager Ross Carr has named three championship debutants in his team for Sunday's Ulster SFC first round meeting with Tyrone at Healy Park (throw-in 3.45pm).
There are first appearances for Luke Howard and Colm Murney in the corner back positions, while Clonduff clubman John Fegan is the third newcomer at right half-forward.
Aidan Carr, the manager's son, has been selected out of position at right half-back. The Queen's Sigerson Cup-winning star made his mark at centre-forward during last season's championship.
Jack Lynch has recovered from injury to slot in beside team captain Dan Gordon at midfield, with Ambrose Rodgers making way.
Liam Doyle, Daniel Hughes and former skipper Benny Coulter have recovered from knocks to be named in the side, but Ciaran McGovern, James McGovern, Declan Rooney, Darren O'Hanlon and Martin Rafferty are all nursing long-term injuries.
Down boss Carr may be in the stands for Sunday's game after he was given an eight-week suspension for comments made about a referee during the National League.
Carr's appeal against the ban was heard last night and he will learn his fate later today. Carr's assistant DJ Kane is free to patrol the sidelines as his suspension expires tomorrow.
