Christy Cooney is turning his thoughts to how he plans to lead the country's largest sporting organisation have been elected as successor to Nickey Brennan as GAA president on Saturday.

The Youghal native secured the top role at his second attempt at the 2008 GAA congress in Sligo. He fended off competition from Laois man Liam O'Neill who polled 112 votes and Tipp's Sean Fogarty who managed just 26.

The Corkman's 172 total was enough to see him elected on the first count.
