Cork quartet return to training

Four experienced players will return to training with the Cork senior hurling panel tonight, but they are unlikely to feature in Sunday's NHL Division 1A play-off against Waterford.

Centre-back Ronan Curran, midfielder Jerry O'Connor and forward duo Joe Deane and Kieran Murphy (Sarsfields) are all due back as the Rebels step up their preparations for the remainder of the league and their fast-approaching championship run.

Cork selector Martin Bowen said: "It's great news to have the lads back. They have been progressing well from their injuries."

Sunday's clash between the Munster rivals, which will decide who finishes second and third in Division 1A, has been re-fixed for Walsh Park in Waterford.

The GAA originally pencilled the game in to take place at the neutral venue of the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.

However, both counties subsequently agreed to a coin toss for a "home" venue as that was more practical.

The winner of the play-off tie will face Limerick in the NHL top flight quarter-finals, while the losers will have a quarter-final date with Tipperary. Both of those fixtures will be played on Sunday week.
