Monaghan lodge complaint after alleged head-butt
A member of the Dublin management team could be in hot water after it was alleged that he head-butted Monaghan forward Thomas Freeman in the aftermath of the sides' NFL Division 2 draw at Parnell Park on Sunday.
Monaghan chairman John Connolly has lodged a complaint with the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC), who are due to meet later today.
The letter alleges that an unnamed member of the Dublin management team aimed a head-butt at 2007 All-Star Freeman, immediately after the final whistle, although there is no television footage of the incident.
Freeman top-scored with 0-7 in Sunday's stalemate and he also drew a foul from Derek Murray to set up Paul Finlay's last-gasp levelling point.
It was niggly tie, during which Dublin had both Mark Vaughan and Bryan Cullen sent-off, while match referee Syl Doyle had to use his whistle all too often in a stop-start first half.
Connolly explained: "Thomas got a head-butt and was able to give a pretty detailed account of the fella (who) did it.
"I asked him was it a player and he said it was a guy in an orange bib.
"It was reported immediately after the game to the Dublin secretary and their chairman, and in fairness to them, they heard us out and listened to what we had to say.
"I've put the whole thing in writing and to the CCCC up in Croke Park and it's up to them to sort it out."
