Wicklow win high-scoring encounter

Wicklow 3-12 Roscommon 3-9

A brave Roscommon side faltered against Wicklow today despite a strong second-half performance at Aughrim.

Minus the influential Mervyn Connaughton, Roscommon started well with a Tom Reddington goal after five minutes.

However Geoffrey Bermingham was on song for the hosts and, along with Tom Devereux, he ensured a 2-9 to 2-2 cushion as the interval approached, with Alan Kelly hitting Roscommon's second goal.

The Rossies responded well on the restart, but Wicklow dug deep to hold out by three points.
