Down too strong for Exiles

Goals in either half proved decisive today as hosts Down claimed a well merited nine-point victory against the Exiles at Páirc Esler in Newry.

A 14th-minute goal from James Coyle helped Down to a 1-08 to 0-08 interval lead, with Martin Finn keeping London in touch.

Just a goal separated the sides as the game entered the final quarter, but when Gareth Johnston blasted the ball into the net after 67 minutes, it steered Down home.

Paul Braniff also made a valuable contribution, chipping in with 0-06.
