The Cork hurling team to face Dublin in Parnell Park on Sunday will feature a number of new faces.

Joe Deane, the O’Connors, Seán Óg Ó hAilpín, Kieran ‘Fraggy’ Murphy and Timmy McCarthy are unavailable for the national hurling league opener.

The management will announce the side tonight and newcomers Stephen White, Eoin Cadogan, Brian Corry and Patrick Horgan are all in contention to start.

The four youngsters have been selected for the 30-man league panel, along with Leigh Desmond (Youghal) and Ballinhassig’s Fintan O’Leary, who excelled for Fitzgibbon Cup winners WIT.

Four of last year’s championship panel will not be involved this season — Eoghan Murphy, Peter Kelly, John Halbert and Graham Callanan.

They had featured in the recent challenge games, but Gerald McCarthy has opted to blood some of the young minor and U-21 graduates of recent seasons.

Cloyne’s Paudie O’Sullivan has recovered from a cruciate knee injury and is currently training with the side, but will not be rushed back into league action.
