Cork-Kilkenny refixture rejected

Kilkenny's offer to have their National Hurling game against Cork refixed for this weekend has been rejected by the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee.

The Cork players' strike forced the game, which was originally due to take place at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on February 10, to be cancelled.

With the row since resolved, the Kilkenny County Board offered for the game to be played this coming weekend - at Nowlan Park or a Cork venue.

However, the CCCC's decision to turn down the request means the Rebel hurlers' first competitive game of the season will be against Dublin at Parnell Park on March 8.
