Longford brush Leitrim aside

Longford 2-10 Leitrim 0-6

Goals in either half from Paul Barden and Francis Magee ensured Longford took a 10-point victory against Leitrim at Pearse Park today.

Nothing could separate the sides in the opening quarter, but once Barden rifled the ball to the back of the Leitrim net, the hosts never trailed.

Indeed Barden, Magee and Brian Kavanagh were the tormentors-in-chief in a strong performance from Luke Dempsey's side.

Leitrim could only manage a point in the closing 15 minutes as Longford sealed victory with Magee's 59th-minute major.
