At today’ s Central Council meeting GAA President Nicky Brennan voiced his admiration and appreciation for Mr Kieran Mulvey of the Labour Relations Commission and Paraic Duffy, Director General, for their contributions in resolving the ongoing dispute that has gripped the GAA fraternity nationwide.

In his binding arbitration paper Mr Mulvey specifically requested the Central Competitions Control Committee (C.C.C.C) to agree a deferment and a rescheduling of Cork’s intercounty match commitments this weekend to facilitate the parties in accepting the terms of his adjudication.

Commenting on the confusion that the crisis has caused in other counties, particularly those counties scheduled to play Cork in the Allianz Leagues, President Brennan said that he fully understood and accepted the uncertainty and inconvenience and hoped that contingency plans will be considered by the C.C.C.C when they re-convene on Tuesday night.

Other issues debated included the future of the International rules Series where Head of Games-Pat Daly and former Derry stalwart Anthony Tohill briefed the council on their recent meeting with A.F.L representatives in Dubai. They stated that the discussions had been largely progressive and included, amongst others, the following major amendments:

o Any sanctions imposed will in future apply to the AFL Premiership competition

o An independent video match official will be appointed

o A Disciplinary Tribunal will be established
