McGrath appointed new Tipperary camogie manager

John McGrath has been appointed as the new manager of the Tipperary senior camogie team.

McGrath takes over from outgoing manager Tony Delaney, following a disappointing year by Tipperary’s high standards. Delaney’s side were beaten in the semi-final of the Gala All Ireland Championships by Cork. This was the first time that a Tipp side had not reached the final since 1999.

The Borrisileigh clubman sees this as a unique opportunity and one that he could not possibly turn down: "The whole thing came as a bit of a shock to me. I thought Tony had done a great job. When I was offered it I was bit shocked and a bit worried if I’d be able for, but I thought, hurling is hurling, it’s not rocket science and I’d give it a go."

McGrath is expected to meet up the team early in the New Year in preparation for the National Senior Camogie League which begins in February.
