Representatives of the AFL and GAA held their first get-together since the 2006 International Rules series when AFL Chief Executive Andrew Demetriou and the GAA’s President Nickey Brennan and Player Welfare Manager Paraic Duffy met in Paris on Thursday.

Representatives of the AFL and GAA held their first get-together since the 2006 International Rules series when AFL Chief Executive Andrew Demetriou and the GAA’s President Nickey Brennan and Player Welfare Manager Paraic Duffy met in Paris on Thursday.

In what described as a 'frank and cordial' meeting in which both sides reviewed the incidents during last year's second Test and discussed a number of other issues.

It was agreed that further discussions were needed before the issue of a resumption of the International Rules series could be considered.

Both sides emphasised their commitment to maintaining the long standing relationship between the two bodies and a further meeting will take place early in the New Year.
