Bealin ends his Wexford reign

Wexford are on the lookout for a new senior football manager after Paul Bealin's decision to resign from the role.

Bealin, a member of Dublin's 1995 All-Ireland winning team, has ended his two-year involvement with the Model County.

It is understood that a disagreement with the Wexford County Board over the squad's set-up and training ahead of the National Football League was behind his decision.

Wexford reached the semi-final stage in this year's Leinster championship before losing 1-13 to 0-13 to Laois.

Their run in the All-Ireland qualifiers was ended by Fermanagh.

Ballyboden St Enda's clubman Bealin took over from Pat Roe in 2005 but could not build on his predecessor's work which saw Wexford reach that year's NFL Division One final.

He managed his own club side for four years before guiding Cavan outfit Mullahoran to two successive county finals.

Bealin has not ruled out a return to inter-county management, insisting that his time with Wexford was "a great experience."
