Cork and Mayo name teams for final
Cork and Mayo have named their teams for Sunday’s All-Ireland Ladies Football final.
With the loss of dual Mary O’Connor to a knee injury, Cork manager Mary Collins will have to now opt for another forward, despite hopes that O’Connor would make the final.
It is likely that 18-year-old CIT student Amanda Murphy will fill her shoes, but it is not known if she will do so at O’Connor’s full-forward berth or corner forward.
In the Mayo camp, Frank Browne had the decision to make weather he would go with the 2006 Connacht Young Player of the Year Lisa Cafferkey at corner forward, or substitute Diane O’Hora, who came on in the semi-final against Tyrone to nail 1-1 to put daylight between the sides.
Despite Cork’s O’Connor and Mayo’s O’Hora being named on the programme, they wil not start.
The Westerners Claire Egan is named in midfield, despite playing at centre-back against Tyrone in the semi-final.
Cork’s Norita Kelly once again has the task of marking her, and it will be one of the best battles come 4pm on Sunday.
