Dublin unchanged for quarter-final
Dublin manager Paul Caffrey has named an unchanged team for Saturday's eagerly awaited All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Derry (Croke Park, throw-in 3pm).
Caffrey has kept faith with the fifteen players that started Dublin's 3-14 to 1-14 Leinster final victory over Laois last month.
That means Ger Brennan and Tomas Quinn, who both kicked late points as substitutes in the provincial decider, have to be content with places on the bench again.
Quinn's failure to make the Dublin team for the Leinster final - he was edged out by Jason Sherlock - marked the first time under Caffrey's management that the St. Vincent's clubman had not been a starter in a championship match.
The Leinster champions' starting line-up for Saturday's encounter include seven players who started Dublin's last championship fixture with Derry, an All-Ireland qualifier in 2003.
Stephen Cluxton, David Henry, Paul Griffin, Shane Ryan, Ciaran Whelan, Colin Moran and Alan Brogan all played against the Oak Leafers four years ago, while Jason Sherlock came off the bench to score 1-3 in that game.
Saturday's clash with be the fifth championship meeting between the counties with the Dubs currently holding a 3-1 advantage with wins in 1958, 1975 and 2003.
Derry's sole victory came in dramatic fashion when they reeled in a four-point half-time deficit in the 1993 All-Ireland semi-final.
Apart from 2003, the Dubs have qualified for the All-Ireland quarter-finals every year since 2001. They beat Westmeath 1-12 to 0-5 in the last-eight, twelve months ago.
