Masters doubtful for All-Ireland semi

Cork scoring ace James Masters is a major doubt for his side's All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Meath on August 19 after the corner forward suffered a suspected broken jaw in yesterday's win over Sligo at Croke Park.

Masters scored four points in the 1-11 to 0-8 quarter-final success but was substituted midway through the second half with a suspect broken jaw in two places.

Cork selector John Corcoran confirmed today that officials are awaiting a medical report before any firm facts can be considered in relation to the matter.

"We are awaiting a consultant's report on it but it isn't looking good at present," Corcoran said.

"Obviously it's a Bank Holiday weekend so we are still waiting to see what will happen but unfortunately it is one of these things."

Masters is top scorer in the 2007 championship to date with yesterday's haul moving his tally to 3-27, ten points ahead of his nearest challenger Tommy Freeman of Monaghan, who has scored 2-20.
