Waterford make two changes for replay

Waterford manager Justin McCarthy has made two changes to his side - bringing in Brian Phelan and Shane Walsh - for Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final replay with Cork (Croke Park, throw-in 4pm).

The full Waterford panel trained last night, including centre back Ken McGrath who picked up a knock in last Sunday's clash.

For the replay, De La Salle clubman Phelan has been pencilled in at left corner-back with James Murray, who started last weekend's drawn game at left half-back, making way in the Deise's defensive reshuffle.

Shane Walsh of Fourmilewater will make his first championship as a midfielder, alongside his namesake and team captain Michael 'Brick' Walsh. Jack Kennedy is the player to make way.

The Deise management have made a number of positional switches to their attack - Stephen Molumphy from from left to right half-forward, with Eoin Kelly going in the opposite direction, while Seamus Prendergast and Dan Shanahan also swap positions with the latter listed at full-forward.

Shanahan is Waterford's top scorer to date in this year's championship with 6-7, while Eoin Kelly (1-13), John Mullane (1-9) and Paul Flynn (2-5) have also been in good scoring form.

Sunday's game marks the tenth championship meeting between Waterford and Cork since 1999. They have met each year since 2002 and actually met twice in 2005 and are now heading for their third SHC clash this season, with Waterford having won the Munster semi-final in June by 5-15 to 3-18.

The last championship replay between the counties was in 1989 when after drawing 0-18 each, Waterford came through on a 5-16 to 4-17 scoreline in the Munster final replay.

The winners of Sunday's replay will face Limerick at Croke Park on August 12.
