Clare delay their team selection
Clare manager Tony Considine will delay his team announcement until just before the throw-in of Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Limerick.
Considine's main injury worry is defender Gerry Quinn who damaged the medial ligaments in his right knee during the Banner's All-Ireland SHC qualifier against Galway on July 7.
It is anticipated that Quinn will not be fit to play in Sunday's clash despite a concerted recovery bid. He took the last two weeks off work in an attempt to speed up his recovery, receiving treatment twice a day and undergoing 25 four-minute sessions of cyrotheraphy at White's Hotel in Wexford.
One man who is expected to play at Croke Park is 2006 All Star forward Tony Griffin. The Ballyea clubman has been named in Clare's 30-man panel for the SHC quarter-final despite only playing his first full game of hurling for seven months last Sunday.
Griffin recently completed an incredible 7,000km charity cycle across Canada, during which he sustained a shoulder injury following a fall from his bike.
But the 26-year-old, who took part in a squad training match at Cusack Park last Sunday, has declared himself fit for the Limerick game.
Clare beat Limerick by 2-21 to 0-10 in last year's All-Ireland SHC qualifier series and are coming off a three-match winning run in the 2007 qualifiers.
Sunday's game will mark the Banner's eight All-Ireland SHC quarter-final appearance. They have won four, drawn two and lost one of their seven quarter-finals to date.
