Limerick boss Bennis banned
Limerick manager Richie Bennis will have to watch next Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final between his side and Clare from the Croke Park stands, after being hit with a sideline ban.
Bennis received the punishment, which is one month in length, for entering the playing area during Limerick's Munster second replay win over Tipperary when one of his players Mark Foley was injured.
"I am very disappointed," Bennis told the Irish Examiner.
"I played hurling for Limerick for 12 years and during that time I was never sent off.
"It (the ban incident) came about when I went on to the field during the final game with Tipperary after our doctor had asked me to get the game stopped as Mark Foley was down injured at the time.
"Croke Park gave me a three-minute hearing and that was that. I think we deserve better than that."
"I was looking forward to walking on to the new Croke Park but I must forget about it now," he said.
