SFC Second Round Qualifier:

Westmeath 1-8 Donegal 1-13, Cusack Park

Donegal rediscovered some of their National League-winning form to beat Westmeath in the sides' first ever championship clash.

Brian McIver's men ran out comfortable winners in Mullingar with Brendan Devenney grabbing a personal tally of 1-4.

Westmeath, who had goalkeeper Gary Connaughton to thank for numerous saves, were only 0-9 to 0-6 down at half-time.

Yet Donegal upped it a notch on the restart and were never troubled, despite having Ciaran Bonner sent off and leaking a late goal to Martin Flanagan.
