Fitzgerald on course for Tipp return
Defender Diarmaid Fitzgerald is winning the race to be fit for Tipperary's Munster SHC opener against Limerick on June 10.
The 24-year-old injured his medial knee ligaments when playing for his college UCD in the Fitzgibbon Cup in February, but his recovery has been quicker than expected.
His return to training with the county panel - a week ahead of schedule - comes as a timely boost for Tipperary who recently lost an NHL Division One quarter-final to their Munster rivals Waterford.
Fitzgerald spent five weeks with his leg in a brace but has made good progress and barring a mishap, the Roscrea clubman should force his way back into the Tipp side for the meeting with Limerick.
The physiotherapy student is expected to see action for Roscrea in their upcoming fixture against Nenagh on May 12.
