Derry win confirms Down's relegation
Down 0-9 Derry 0-12
Derry heaped more misery on Down as they came from behind to beat their Ulster rivals at Newcastle.
Bottom side Down lost their top-flight status as they put in a disappointing second-half display.
They were 0-6 to 0-2 in front after 23 minutes and would have had two goals on the board but for two brilliant saves by Barry Gillis from Benny Coulter.
Points from Paddy Bradley (0-2) and Mark Lynch cut Down's lead to 0-6 to at half-time, and Bradley and Enda Muldoon took over on the resumption to steer Derry to their third league win.
