Cavan beat Wicklow

Cavan proved too strong for Mick O'Dwyer's Wicklow side as they took the Division 2B spoils under the Breffni Park floodlights.

Teenage forward Ray Cullivan kicked two early points as Cavan moved 0-5 to 0-0 ahead before John Slattery kicked Wicklow's opener in the 22nd-minute.

Two Paul Earls frees and a point from Tony Hannon saw Wicklow level the tie at 0-6 apiece at half-time.

Points from Ger Pierson (0-2), Michael Cunningham, Cullivan and Keith Fannin put Cavan 0-11 to 0-6 ahead and though keeper James Reilly had to block a Keith Byrne goal shot, Donal Keoghan's charges won out.
