Begley trains with Rules squad

Laois youngster Colm Begley is training with the Ireland International Rules squad in Dublin today.

The 20-year-old, who has flown home after the end of the Aussie Rules season, was called up by Irish boss Sean Boylan for the training session at Westmanstown.

Last month saw Begley, who is on an international rookie contract, line out twice for the Brisbane Lions in the AFL Premiership.

Boylan is also running the rule over players from Cork, Dublin, Kerry and Mayo - the All-Ireland's final four. Kerry tyro Kieran Donaghy has linked up with the squad despite a hampering groin injury.

The first Test of the series will take place under the floodlights at Salthill's Pearse Stadium on October 29, while the second clash has been set for Croke Park on November 5.

Australia are the holders of the Cormac McAnallen Cup after last year's 57-point demolition of the Irish.
