O’Dwyer rings the changes for Tyrone tie

Laois manager Mick O'Dwyer has made four changes to his side for Saturday's All-Ireland second round qualifier against Tyrone in Portlaoise (throw-in 5.30pm).

Brendan Quigley, Paul McDonald, team captain Gary Kavanagh and Brian McCormack all come into the line-up.

The shoulder injury Padraig Clancy sustained in the 14-point defeat by Dublin has kept him out, with former Brisbane recruit Quigley taking over in midfield.

Cathal Ryan makes way for McDonald in defence, Kavanagh, back after a knee injury, returns in place of Donie Brennan, while Paul Lawlor, who, like Brennan, was held scoreless by the Dubs, loses out to McCormack.

Only six players - goalkeeper Fergal Byron, Aidan Fennelly, Tom Kelly, Noel Garvan, Ross Munnelly and Chris Conway - have retained the same starting position they held for the Leinster semi-final against Dublin.

Brian 'Beano' McDonald has taken Lawlor's place at full-forward, with McCormack in at left half-forward. Darren Rooney, who played for the O'Moore county hurlers last weekend, reverts to full-back with Padraig McMahon coming into the half-back line.

Saturday could mark the 70-year-old O'Dwyer's last game in charge of Laois. The O'Moore men and Tyrone, the reigning All-Ireland champions, have clashed just once before in the championship - 2004's SFC fourth round qualifier tie at Croke Park saw the Red Hands run out easy 3-15 to 2-04 winners.
