Injury let-off for Galway keeper
Galway substitute goalkeeper Brian O'Donoghue has been released from hospital, quelling fears that he had sustained a crippling injury in a club game at the weekend.
The GMIT student fell awkwardly in a club game on Sunday, delaying proceedings for more than 20 minutes as he was positioned onto a stretcher and then brought to hospital.
O'Donoghue looked to have sustained damage to his neck and back during the clash between Claregalway and Clonbur, but has had a lucky escape. Having stayed in hospital overnight, the young netminder was given the all-clear by doctors and released yesterday.
Galway defend their Connacht SFC crown against Mayo on Sunday week, and manager Peter Ford has bolstered his squad with the addition of Tuam Stars goalkeeper Paul Doherty.
