Former captain Paul Codd looks set to miss out on a place in the Wexford team for Sunday's Leinster SHC final against defending champions Kilkenny.

The Rathnure attacker, who only returned to the squad last month following a two-year absence, is nursing a calf injury and is in danger of missing out on the Croke Park clash.

According to manager Seamus Murphy, Codd "was considered" for the Model men's semi-final against Offaly, but an ankle injury ruled him out.

He did come on off the bench, but a knock to his calf has meant he has been sidelined from training ever since.

Dessie Mythen and Willie Doran are also injury concerns for Murphy, who will confirm his side on Friday. The duo are struggling with hamstring injuries.

However, Rory Jacob, who impressed with three points against Offaly, is expected to start despite a heel problem.

According to the majority of bookmakers, Wexford stand little chance of annexing their second Leinster title in three seasons - 2004 was their last success.

Kilkenny have been installed as 1/10 favourites by most bookies, with Wexford rank outsiders at between 11/2 and 6/1.
