Armagh's Duffy top of the pile

Armagh wing back Paul Duffy has collected the Tennents Ulster GAA Writers' merit award for May.

The 22-year-old was on fire in the Orchard County's two games against Monaghan last month.

Armagh claimed a replay win to advance to this Sunday's Ulster SFC semi-final with Fermanagh their opponents.

Duffy, who made his championship debut last year, is set to become a fixture in the Armagh half-back line alongside Ciaran McKeever and Aaron Kernan.

The Pearse Og clubman's all-action style and raids forward have helped him become a firm favourite with Armagh supporters.

However, he is rated doubtful for the clash with Fermanagh in Clones due to a niggling groin strain. A joiner by trade, Duffy said: "I got hurt in training last weekend and the injury is taking a little longer to heal than I anticipated."

His merit award prize includes a €100 Tennents Ireland sports voucher, an engraved Belleek China vase, sports gear from Pro*Star, cuff links from Omeath's Gareth Mallon and two tickets and overnight accommodation to the Writers Association annual banquet in Bundoran in November.
