Freak accident leaves Fenlon in agony
From big draw to broken jaw. Adrian Fenlon, one of Wexford's greatest ever hurlers - who retired earlier this year - is resting up after sustaining a cruel injury in a club game.
The 32-year-old, whose final years in a Wexford shirt were blighted by injury, is hoping to help his club Rapparees to a first county championship title since 1978 this summer.
But Fenlon, a master of the sideline cut, is sidelined for tomorrow's first round replay with Duffry Rovers - through no fault of his own.
The 1996 All-Star was accidentally hit in the face by a team mate's hurley during last weekend's drawn game. The incident saw him break his jaw in two places as well as losing four teeth.
Meanwhile, the current Wexford panel lost another player this week. Corner back Andrew Kavanagh has opted out - following in the footsteps of Paul Carley, Barry Lambert, Seán O'Neill and Paul Roche.
Seamus Murphy's side take on the winners of tomorrow's Laois v Offaly clash in the Leinster SHC semi-finals on June 11.
