Rebels include Newtown's Naughton

Teenager Cathal Naughton will make his first competitive start for Cork tomorrow when they entertain Munster rivals Clare in NHL Division 1A (Pairc Ui Rinn, throw-in 3.30pm).

The Newtownshandrum clubman impressed when coming off the bench against Wexford last week, scoring a stunning 85-yard point from the left touchline in Cork's 0-19 to 0-07 win.

The Rebels need another victory to confirm their place in the quarter-finals. John Allen's side currently sit on five points - leaders Clare are a point above them. A win for Cork, with Waterford (six points) losing to Offaly, would see them go straight into the semi-finals.

The 19-year-old Naughton is drafted in at right corner forward, in place of the injured Neil Ronan - Cork's scoring hero last week with 0-10.

The two other changes see Naughton's club mate Pat Mulcahy return at right corner back to captain the side for the first time this season, and Darren McSweeney gets the nod at left corner back. Wayne Sherlock and Brian Murphy make way.

Last year's All-Ireland winning skipper Sean Og O hAilpin is again included at midfield.
