Tyrrell fit for Kilkenny-Galway rematch

Team captain Jackie Tyrrell has recovered from a hand injury to take his place in the Kilkenny side for tomorrow's NHL Division 1B showdown with Galway (Pearse Stadium, throw-in 3.30pm).

Tyrrell is one of six changes manager Brian Cody has made to the Cats side that struggled to beat Antrim last weekend. John Tennyson, Cody's own son Donncha, Richie Power, Eoin McCormack and Aidan Fogarty all return to the starting line-up.

Power, Kilkenny's top scorer in the league (0-22 in three games), has shaken off a hamstring injury to be included. A positional switch sees Martin Comerford move from full-forward to right half-forward with James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick, back from a bout of the 'flu, filling the number-14 jersey.

Stephen Maher, James Ryall, Bryan Barry, Derek Lyng, Eoin Reid and Eddie Brennan all make way from last week's side.

Tomorrow's clash is a repeat of last August's epic All-Ireland SHC semi-final, which Galway won 5-18 to 4-18.

A win for Kilkenny, who booked their place in the NHL quarter-finals with a 0-12 to 1-7 victory over Antrim, would see them bumped up into the semi-finals.

Cody said this week: "We don't care if its the quarter or semi-finals we finish up in. We have at least two more good games to look forward to in the National League, and we will make the best possible use of them."

KILKENNY (NHL v Galway) - PJ Ryan; M Kavanagh, JJ Delaney, D Cody; J Tyrrell (capt), J Tennyson, T Walsh; M Fennelly, M Rice; M Comerford, R Power, E Larkin; E McCormack, J Fitzpatrick, A Fogarty.
