Offaly 1-11 Monaghan 1-11, Tullamore

Nothing could separate Division 1A’s two bottom sides in Tullamore.

Dick Clerkin hit the levelling point late on, but drama followed in injury-time. When Offaly’s Tomas Deehan stepped up to take a free, he stole a yard and referee Michael Ryan pinged him for it.

Monaghan had seven players on the score sheet as they led 0-07 to 0-04 at half-time. Offaly should have had a goal but Neville Coughlan blazed wide.

The Faithfuls, who had Karol Slattery dismissed, kicked five unanswered points to go clear but a 1-01 haul from substitute Kieran Tavey brought Monaghan back into it.
