Laois pull out stops to beat Armagh

ALLIANZ NFL: DIVISION 1B:

Armagh 2-09 Laois 1-15, Crossmaglen

Laois were without 2005 All-Star nominee Ross Munnelly but still managed to beat Armagh at Crossmaglen.

Munnelly was a late cry-off, prompting the introduction of Padraig Clancy at midfield, and Laois produced their best display of the season to hand Armagh a fourth defeat in six league games.

A one-two with Tom Kelly saw Billy Sheehan stride forward for 20th-minute goal that fired Laois into a 1-05 to 0-02 lead.

Armagh’s Stephen McDonnell came off the bench and his ’45 evaded everyone to bounce into the Laois net. McDonnell (2-01) added a 64th-minute penalty, but the visitors held on.
