Vaughen given chance to impress for Dublin
Mark Vaughan will get the chance to impress up front for Dublin in Saturday’s floodlit NFL Division 1A clash with leaders Mayo at Parnell Park.
The Kilmacud Crokes youngster, who has made two substitute appearances in the league to date, will start at right corner forward in place of the injured Kevin Bonner. St. Brigid’s clubman Bonner was forced off with a leg injury after 33 minutes of last Sunday’s narrow loss to Fermanagh.
Dubs manager Paul Caffrey has kept his defensive unit and midfield intact with the only other switches being positional. DCU team mates Declan Lally and Bryan Cullen switch wings in the half-forward line, while Alan Brogan, whose scoring was restricted to a single point in Fermanagh, moves to left corner forward to accommodate Vaughan’s inclusion.
Lucan defender Casey, who was sent off for two yellow card offences last week at Brewster Park, retains his place at right half-back.
Saturday’s top division tussle is an all-ticket affair. Tickets will go on sale from the Dublin County Board offices at Parnell Park on Thursday (10am-5pm). Tickets are also available online at www.ticketmaster.ie, and throw-in is at 7.45pm.
