Carroll the hero for Waterford

Coolderry marksman Brian Carroll was the hero for Offaly as he hit all bar one of their scores in a tight Division 1A win over Wexford.
Wexford overcame the loss of captain Brendan Murphy (flu) before the throw-in to lead 0-08 to 0-03 at half-time with Rory Jacob, Mossy Mahon and Eoin Quigley prominent. Carroll notched three frees in the opening half.
Darren Stamp and Des Mythen nudged Wexford up to 0-10 before Offaly, with big Joe Bergin switched into full-forward, came back. Carroll rifled in a goal with six minutes remaining and hit an injury-time point to send the Faithfuls temporarily top of the table.
