Wexford off the mark against Clare

A goal each from MJ Furlong and Rory Jacob helped Wexford chalk up their first win of the Division 1A campaign.

Full-forward Jacob bossed matters at Wexford Park as he hit over six first half points.

Wind-backed Wexford led 1-08 to 0-03 at half-time - Furlong netted after 6 minutes, while Clare had points from Brian O'Connell and Tony Carmody (2 frees).

Clare substitute Niall Gilligan impressed after the restart with two excellent points, but having been earlier denied by Davy Fitzgerald, Jacob (1-08) then rifled in his goal to confirm the win.
