Waterford overcome sending off to beat Cork
Cork 2-15 Waterford 0-25
Waterford avenged last season’s two championship defeats by Cork as Eoin Kelly today drove them to a heartening league win over the Rebels.
Mount Sion clubman Kelly struck 0-07 at Páirc Uí Rinn as the Deise rallied following Seamus Prendergast’s 17th-minute sending-off for his second bookable offence.
Despite leaking a sixth-minute goal to Conor Cusack, the visitors still led 0-13 to 1-07 at the break. Kelly had hit six points.
Cork’s Neil Ronan grabbed a late goal, but Waterford held on to go top of the Division 1A table.
