CDC confirm suspensions

The GAA's Central Disciplinary Committee have confirmed a number of suspensions.

As a result of an incident in the Down v Meath Allianz National Football League game on Sunday, February 5, Meath midfielder Mark Ward has been suspended for eight weeks from the date of the game.

Ward, on as a substitute, was sent off for lashing out at Down forward Eoin McCartan in the final quarter.

Athlone IT hurler Anthony Dunne has been banned for four weeks from the date of the Kehoe Cup game against Meath on January 29. Full-back Dunne was red carded late on in the Royals' win.

Meanwhile, Paul McDonnell of Antrim side Glenariff has been given a 12-week suspension, dating back to January 29, for his sending-off in last month's All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling semi-final defeat by Cork's Ballinhassig.

Left half-forward McDonnell was one of three Glenariff players to be red carded in a three-minute spell during the second half.

Following reviews of the suspensions of Simon Sinnott of Ardfert and Cahirlistrane's Brendan Murphy, the CDC decided that their suspensions still stand.
