Connacht Hurling Cup draw confirmed

Holders NUI Galway have been drawn to face Leitrim in the quarter-finals of the 2006 irelandwestairport.com Connacht Hurling Cup.

For the first time, the fledgling competition, which was initiated by the Connacht Council and Ireland West Airport Knock in 2004, will be run on a knock-out basis with teams representing each of the five Connacht counties.

The Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo and Leitrim county panels will be joined by the Galway Development squad, GMIT, IT Sligo and NUI Galway, who recently lost to Cork IT in their Datapac National League Division One semi-final clash.

Interestingly, the Galway Development Squad have been paired with the students of GMIT in the quarter-finals.

The outright winners of the competition will be rewarded with a trip to London to play a London/UK selection at Ruislip on February 4 next.
