Kiely re-appointed as Waterford boss
The Waterford County Board have re-appointed John Kiely as manager of the Deise's senior footballers.
The Kilrossanty clubman, who took over from Ardmore's Billy Harty last December, has been given another year at the helm. His re-appointment will be rubber-stamped at the Waterford GAA County Convention on December 14 next in Lawlor's Hotel, Dungarvan.
Kiely, who led the Waterford juniors to two All-Ireland titles in 1999 and 2004, helped the seniors end a two-year spell without a National League win by beating Tipperary 0-6 to 0-4 in February.
Waterford's Munster championship campaign was ended in May - Clare edged them 2-14 to 2-10 in their quarter-final tie, while Louth and Longford proved too good in the All-Ireland qualifiers and Tommy Murphy Cup respectively.
Waterford's hurlers, meanwhile, take on TG4's Underdogs selection in a challenge match today (throw-in 2.30pm), at McGinn Park, Ballygunner. Justin McCarthy's Waterford side lost 0-16 to 0-19 to Tipperary in a challenge fixture last Saturday.
