Forde included on Leinster bench

Mattie Forde, one of the players at the centre of Chris Johnson's controversial sending-off in the recent International Rules Series, has been named on the bench for Leinster's M Donnelly Interprovincial football final clash with Ulster.

Australian co-captain Johnson was handed down a five-match ban from the Series after pleading guilty to two striking charges against Forde and Philip Jordan from the second Test, at today's joint AFL-GAA Tribunal in Melbourne.

Forde said, in a statement to the Tribunal, that he suffered "severe bruising across the cheek and neck" from his off-the-ball scuffle with Johnson, but the 2004 All-Star has been passed fit to play in Saturday's Interpro decider, which will be played under Parnell Park's floodlights.

Leinster boss Val Andrews has made two changes to the side that saw off Connacht, 1-14 to 3-7, at the same venue on October 30.

Laois duo Tom Kelly and Ross Munnelly, who missed the semi-final due to their International Rules' involvement, come into the starting XV at the expense of Meath's Niall McKeigue and Daithi Regan - both of whom have club commitments this weekend.

Westmeath's Dessie Dolan has also made the Leinster bench for a capital meeting which could see Ulster claim a hat-trick of Interpro titles.

Former Louth supremo Andrews has backboned his side with five players from provincial champions Dublin - captain Ciaran Whelan, defenders Barry Cahill and Peadar Andrews, and forwards Colin Moran and Jason Sherlock - in a bid to halt Ulster's march.

Tipperary referee Paddy Russell takes charge of the final, which will be televised live on Setanta Sports.
