Crozier confirms Derry football panel

New Derry senior football manager Paddy Crozier has confirmed his panel for the opening months of the 2006 season.

New Derry senior football manager Paddy Crozier has confirmed his panel for the opening months of the 2006 season.

The former Lavey and Dungiven boss has also finalised his backroom team, adding Liam Bradley, who is father of current Oak Leaf stars Eoin and Paddy, James McAfee and Martin Heaney to team trainer Bernie Henry.

Crozier, who was confirmed as successor to Mickey Moran last month, has notably left Conleth Gilligan, a member of the 2000 National League winning side, Conleth Moran and Fergal McEldowney off his first panel, although he has insisted that "the door hasn't been closed to any particular players."

Bellaghy's Michael McGoldrick, a noted corner back, and midfielder Joe Diver, who struck two points in the Derry champions' 0-11 to 0-9 Ulster SFC victory over Armagh kingpins Crossmaglen last Sunday, are among a number of new call-ups.

Dungiven hurler Liam Hinphey has also been included in Crozier's 35-man panel.

Derry's campaign begins with the Dr McKenna Cup in the New Year with Crozier hoping his men can come to boil for the summer's Ulster quarter-final against All-Ireland champions Tyrone.
