Gardiner, McMenamin scoop GAA awards

Cork's John Gardiner and Ryan McMenamin of Tyrone have been voted Hurler and Footballer of the Year respectively at the Star-Waterford Crystal GAA Awards at Croke Park.

Cork hurling manager John Allen, who is thrashing out his immediate future, was voted GAA Personality of the Year.

Gardiner said being voted Hurler of the Year is a great honour.

Speaking afterwards, he said he was delighted and humbled to have won the award.
