Ó Flatharta confirmed as Westmeath boss
Tomás Ó Flatharta has been confirmed as the new manager of the Westmeath senior footballers.
The Dublin-based banker was the only name put to the midlanders' club delegates and his appointment was ratified at a meeting of the Westmeath Football Board on Wednesday night.
Ó Flatharta, who has worked with the Westmeath players as a team trainer and selector for the last two years, succeeds Kerryman Paidi O Se, who stepped down on July 2 in the aftermath of the Lake County's 0-09 to 0-12 second round qualifier loss to Clare.
While county secretary Paddy Collins is to remain part of the backroom staff, Ballyferriter man Ó Flatharta is expected to name his selectors in the coming weeks.
