Corcoran fit for hurling final
The Cork hurling management will have a full hand to choose from when they select their team next week for the All-Ireland final again Galway.
Brian Corcoran’s shoulder injury, aggravated in the semi-final win over Clare, was a cause for concern but, according to selector Fred Sheedy, he is back in business and hurling well in training.
“Brian is okay, we have no worries with him. Neil Ronan is also fine and training away but there is a bit of concern over Kieran Murphy of Erin’s Own with his finger injury.
“He is participating in all the sessions but his hurling is very restricted.
“Jerry O’Connor is still troubled a bit with a hamstring but he will be all right too.’’
Sheedy revealed that things are winding down now on the training front and it’s now a case of keeping things ticking over before the date with destiny on Sunday week.
“We trained last night and will be out training again on Thursday, Friday and Sunday morning at around nine o’clock.
Obviously, all the hard work is done at this stage and it’s now a matter of fine tuning a few things.
“We have all had a good look at the Galway-Kilkenny semi-final on video and studied a few things.
“They are going to pose a big threat and will certainly be energised from their vic tory over Kilkenny.
“But we will be ready and are certainly looking forward to it and nothing will be spared in our bid to put back to back titles together.’’
The Cork team will be announced next Tuesday night and the indications are that it will be unchanged from the side that star ted against Clare in the semi-final.
That will mean another starting slot for Timmy McCarthy, replaced at half-time in that game, and Neil Ronan being used again as an impact sub.
