Wexford reach Tommy Murphy Cup Final
Wexford 3-19 Longford 2-13
Manager-less Wexford proved too good for Longford today, progressing through to the Tommy Murphy Cup final with a 3-19 to 2-13 victory.
Minus suspended trio Diarmuid Kinsella, Pat Forde and Jim D'Arcy, Wexford started speedily and left Luke Dempsey's men trailing by 2-8 to 0-9 at the break at Wexford Park, with Mattie Forde and Paddy Colfer both netting.
Liam Keenan and Willie Murray did raise rallying green flags for Longford in the second half, but a goal from skipper John Hudson guaranteed his side a second-tier decider against either Roscommon or Tipperary on September 4 at Croke Park.
Roscommon and Tipperary play off their semi-final on Tuesday.
