GAA: 'Closed doors' session for Cats
Kilkenny manager Brian Cody has insisted on "closed doors" training sessions for his side as they step up their preparations for their All-Ireland SHC semi-final showdown with Galway on August 21.
The Cats squad met up last night in the aftermath of Sunday's less-than-impressive five-point victory over Limerick.
In an attempt to channel his players' concentration towards a third Liam McCarthy Cup in four seasons, Cody's request for locked gates at Nowlan Park has been met by the Kilkenny county board.
The board have agreed to the "closed doors" option, used in recent years by both the Clare and Waterford hurlers, until the end of next week, with supporters allowed in to watch the final week's preparations.
Meanwhile, Clare hurling boss Anthony Daly has received a double boost ahead of the Banner's semi-final against reigning champions Cork on August 14, with the return to fitness of forwards Alan Markham (hamstring) and Barry Nugent (ankle).
