Ronaghan still waiting for Farney reprieve

Tyholland attacker Raymond Ronaghan is still absent from the Monaghan panel, nearly three weeks after he was dropped from it by manager Seamus McEnaney.

Both Ronaghan and his club mate Gary McQuaid were banished from the squad in the aftermath of the Farney side's qualifier defeat of Wexford on July 9.

According to county sources, the duo were axed by McEnaney for "over-celebrating" that five-point win, but since then, McQuaid has been re-instated.

Ronaghan is still out in the cold, but McEnaney might not need him as burly forward Rory Woods, who notched 0-17 in the league campaign, is now back from the three-month suspension he incurred for a kicking incident during the league semi-final against Derry.

Woods is likely to be included in the Farney line-up for Saturday week's All-Ireland quarter-final against Tyrone.

McEnaney, who took over the managerial reins from Colm Coyle last October, said of his side's last-eight opponents: "Tyrone are one of the best teams in the country and they would have been one of my fancied teams for the Sam Maguire Cup so it is a huge task for us.

"But at the end of the day it will give us an indication as to how far we have come."
