Monaghan to face London in SFC Qualifiers
The ties that will form the first round of this summer's Bank of Ireland Senior Football Championship Qualifiers were settled on in Salthill tonight.
Eight clashes are set for decision, with all bar the Wicklow v Armagh/Donegal pairing to be played next Saturday, June 18th.
Today's Ulster semi-final between Armagh and Donegal went to a replay - to be played in six days' time in Clones - so the Garden county men the undoubted underdogs, no matter which side is sent packing from Ulster.
Elsewhere, long-time Meath manager Sean Boylan will have to defeat an Ulster side if they are to progress, having drawn Antrim. Twice in recent years, the Royals have been edged out of the qualifiers by Fermanagh.
Paidi O Se's vanquished Leinster champions Westmeath travel to Tipperary for their first qualifier tie, while NFL Division Two winners Monaghan were handed the easiest game of the round when paired with Exiles London.
There are two games in which provincial rivals are squaring off against each other - Offaly v Carlow and Down v Fermanagh, a mouth-watering all-Ulster clash with the home venue yet to be decided on.
The Games Administration Committee will meet tomorrow morning to hammer out definite times and venues for the eight ties.
The following is the Bank of Ireland All-Ireland SFC Qualifiers Round 1 Draw, in full:
Monaghan (home team) v London
Tipperary (home team) v Westmeath
Down v Fermanagh
Louth (home team) v Waterford
Offaly v Carlow
Antrim v Meath
Wicklow v Armagh/Donegal (losers of Ulster semi-final)
Sligo v Longford
